Real Madrid look particularly weak in a few positions right now. One of them is right-back. Dani Carvajal is a club legend without doubt, but his recent performances have come under heavy criticism. Add that to the fact that he has struggled with fitness issues, and it feels like the Spaniard might not be the long-term solution for Los Blancos. Lucas Vazquez acts as his cover, while Alvaro Odriozola is expected to depart soon after struggling for chances.
One of the best right-backs in the world this season has been Sporting CP’s Pedro Porro. He has been simply outstanding and could be an excellent addition to this Real Madrid side.
And as reported by AS, Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation of Porro, with a view to a summer swoop.
But the problem is, the club are not expected to make any additions in January, while Tottenham Hotspur are rumoured to be pushing to sign Porro. There might be some good news for Los Blancos in that regard though.
Real Madrid interested in €45 million Tottenham Hotspur target
It is believed that Sporting CP are not willing to let Porro leave for anything lower than his €45 million release clause in the middle of the season, a figure that Tottenham Hotspur do not seem willing to match.
If Porro remains at Sporting CP till the end of the campaign, then Real Madrid might have a decent chance of signing the Spaniard in the summer.
Of course, there is still time left on the January transfer window and anything can happen between now and February.
It is worth pointing out that Chelsea have been linked with Porro recently as well, and the Blues are believed to be in search of a right-back this month, following Reece James’ injury struggles over the past couple of seasons.
