Blue Slips Debated, 24 Nominees Voted On at Senate Judiciary

Before voting to move two dozen of President Joe Biden’s judicial nominees to the Senate floor, blue slips, which have been required from home-state senators by committee chairs in recent years for a president’s judicial nominee, were the hottest topic at Thursday morning’s Senate Judiciary Committee Executive Business Meeting.

“If the White House feels the blue slip has been an impediment [to judicial nominations] … they should] nominate individuals who will faithfully and impartially enforce the Constitution,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee, told the body as the meeting opened.
